Volunteer opportunities are now available for students entering grades 9 through 12 in Kishwaukee Community Hospital’s Teen-Age Group Service (TAGS) program, the hospital’s youngest volunteering group. TAGS volunteers work in many different areas of the hospital and perform various tasks.
Volunteer work for TAGS at the hospital ranges from putting materials in patient folders, working at the front desk, Medical Records, Green Leaf Gift Shop, on the patient units, and at many special events. Volunteering with the TAGS program is fun and rewarding, gives the teen an opportunity to meet new people and learn new skills in a healthcare environment, is an opportunity to earn community service hours, and is a great way to get references for college applications and resumes.
Applications are available in Kish Hospital’s Volunteer Office, located near the main entrance. Once the application and recommendations are approved, an interview with the future TAGS volunteer and a parent/guardian will be scheduled. When accepted into the program, all new TAGS are required to attend an orientation and two training sessions before being placed on the regular schedule.
The application deadline to begin volunteering in the fall of 2012 is May 1. For more information about becoming a member of the Kish Hospital TAGS program, call 815.756.1521 x153373, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit www.kishhospital.org/volunteer.
