You may find this hard to believe, Sycamore (yes… Sycamore, Illinois) was named one of the top ten places to retire according to U.S. News & World Report. Of course we can appreciate the charm and personality of our own small town, but now we’ve been recognized nationwide? Mayor Ken Mundy doesn’t seem to be one bit surprised. “We’ve got a growing number of retirees here,” Mundy said.
Sycamore, Illinois was the only city from the Midwest to be represented on the list. We found ourselves in the company of many cities from much warmer climates such as Hawaii, Florida, California and Arizona. Sycamore is a desirable location due to its free busing transportation for senior citizens, the Midwest Museum of Natural History and our abundance of leisurely activities.
